The Entertaining Barn
Designed as a secondary structure on a beautifully wooded East End property, this modern barn serves as both an elegant entertaining space and comfortable overflow for guests. Tucked behind a field stone wall and under a canopy of mature trees, the structure offers a seamless connection to the surrounding landscape.
Clad in dark-stained board-and-batten siding and topped with a cedar shake roof, the barn’s rustic exterior belies the light-filled interior. Inside, white plaster walls and bleached wood ceilings create a serene, gallery-like space centered around a spacious lounge area. Sliding glass doors on either side of the barn open completely, transforming the living space into an open-air pavilion.
A compact but thoughtfully designed galley kitchen provides everything needed for casual gatherings or weekend stays, while the simple material palette and custom wood detailing reinforce the quiet elegance of the design. Whether hosting parties or offering a private retreat for guests, this structure balances functionality with restrained beauty.
