Montauk Yacht Club — Historic Restoration Meets Contemporary Coastal Design
Originally built in 1928, the Montauk Yacht Club has been thoughtfully re imagined through a multi-million-dollar renovation that honors its storied legacy while ushering in a new era of elevated coastal luxury. Our architectural team approached the project with a deep sensitivity to the site’s maritime heritage, preserving key structural elements and materials while introducing contemporary design features that align with the resort’s evolving identity. The revitalization focused on seamlessly integrating new programming—including a signature restaurant, wellness facilities, and expanded guest accommodations—into the existing resort fabric with a clear architectural dialogue between old and new.

One of the most transformative aspects of the project involved enhancing the guest experience through a reconfiguration of the site’s common areas. We re-envisioned the flow and functionality of the resort’s gathering spaces, opening up the layout to maximize light, views of lake Montauk, and connection to the marina. New outdoor amenities, including a re imagined adult pool deck, family-friendly great lawn pool, and updated spa cabanas, were carefully placed to preserve sight-lines and reinforce the resort’s connection to its 35-acre waterfront setting. The newly built Ocean Club Montauk restaurant—with its expansive open kitchen and panoramic views—was designed as both a culinary focal point and an architectural statement, anchoring the hospitality experience in coastal sophistication.

In tandem with our architectural work, we collaborated closely with hospitality partners and interior designers to ensure every material, finish, and spatial transition aligned with the property’s rebranding under Proper Hospitality. From the wellness-centered fitness facilities and La Prairie Spa to The Market and high-end boutique retail spaces, each program element was given a distinct design identity while maintaining cohesion through a palette of natural textures, nautical cues, and understated elegance.

This revitalization not only preserved the character of one of Montauk’s most iconic properties, but also positioned it as a leading destination for modern travelers seeking design-forward, wellness-driven hospitality. Our team is proud to have contributed to the Montauk Yacht Club’s legacy—balancing preservation with innovation and ensuring the resort remains a cornerstone of East End culture for decades to come.
