Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa underwent a 30,000 square foot renovation with a design that draws deeply from the spa’s dramatic coastal setting. Every line and material choice reinforces its connection to the Atlantic. With North America’s only ocean-fed seawater pool and bespoke treatment rooms that now open directly to ocean views, every corner of the design evokes calm, elevates experience, and prioritizes environmental performance through energy-efficient systems.
From an architectural perspective, one of the central goals was to create a facility that honors its site while redefining the guest experience. the newly re imagined spa incorporates an expansive bathhouse with caldarium, thermae baths, frigidarium, sauna, and eucalyptus-infused steam rooms, all positioned to maximize exposure to natural light and views.
Outside, the Spa Deck, an architectural addition atop the facility, was conceived not just as an event space, but as a floating extension of the horizon, offering unobstructed views for weddings and gatherings.
From the discreet sustainability integrations to the spatial choreography that encourages both movement and rest, the architecture itself becomes a part of the wellness journey. In doing so, the spa doesn’t just serve its guests; it reflects and enhances the ethos of Montauk’s rugged, restorative coast.
